As 'an active member' of the Older Generation, I think it's sensible to quote temperatures in both (or either) scale. If you want to express how cold something is, -5 degrees celsius makes more of an impression than 23 degrees farenheit, whereas it's a lot easier to appreciate how warm it is on a hot day if someone tells you that it's 80 degrees farenheit rather than you telling you it's 27 degrees celsius. So like many 'older' people in the UK, I talk about the cold in celsius, but refer to the heat in farenheit. Sounds silly, but it make a lot of sense to me and millions like me in Britain!

Yorkshire has many, many different accents within that region. Nice to see Potteries (Stoke-on-Trent) get a mention. A lot of the original dialects are extinct now, sadly with the greater movement of people, eg. Hertfordshire (where I grew up). MLE didn’t exist then, but has changed the accent of my home town. Back in the day, there were even different dialects within a small city like Stoke (where I have lived most of my adult life). Black Country (as opposed to Brummie) has different dialects, eg. Walsall is different from Dudley, although they are both Black Country towns.
